Three trustee positions at Hocking College were filled on August 11 by a caucus of local boards of education presidents from Athens, Hocking and Perry counties. The caucus appointed Paula Tucker and Keith Taulbee of Hocking County and Robert Troxel of Athens County. The appointees will officially join the board September 1, 2011.

The caucus reviewed 10 applications for the three open positions and ultimately selected Tucker, Taulbee and Troxel as the “most likely fit for the college,” according to Dr. Scott Anzalone, caucus chairman and president of the Logan-Hocking School Board.

Tucker was a teacher for more than 30 years within the Logan-Hocking school district and served as mayor of Logan, Ohio from 2000 to 2003.  Taulbee is a chiropractor in private practice in Logan and has been involved with the United Way of Hocking County for several years. Troxel, a Hocking College alumnus, is the current fire chief for the City of Athens, a post he has held for the past 25 years.  Each trustee will serve a term of three years.

“We are pleased to welcome the newly appointed board members and look forward to their input and motivation for positive improvements at Hocking College,” Dr. Jacalyn Osborne, Interim President at Hocking College, said.

The Hocking College Board of Trustees consists of nine members, three appointed by the Governor of the State of Ohio, and six appointed by the caucus.
