Hocking College Fish Management and Aquaculture students will host their annual shrimp sale on Friday, September 26 and Friday, October 3, 2014.

The shrimp being offered this year are Giant Malaysian Prawn, which are locally raised at the Hocking College Fish Hatchery at Lake Snowden. The public is invited to come Friday morning to observe or participate in the harvest starting at 9:00 a.m. The shrimp sale will start at 11:00 a.m. or as soon as the harvest is complete. Any individuals interested in purchasing the shrimp should bring their own cooler, ice will be provided, and the price of the shrimp will be $10 a pound.

Anyone who is unable to attend the harvest can also purchase the shrimp at the local Athens County Farmer's Market on Saturday, October 4. The market will run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at University Mall on East State Street in Athens.

The hatchery is located off State Route 50 West on County Road 80. Follow the "Shrimp" signs to the site. Please call 740.698.1925 for more information.
