Olivia Chambers and Rebecca Fuller of Athens County and Jill Switzer of Hocking County have each been awarded David S. Fraedrich Memorial Scholarships for the Hocking College School of Nursing 2012-13 academic year.

Chambers was awarded $2,500, and also received the scholarship for the 2011-12 academic year.  She participated in the Post-Secondary Options Program during her high school years, in which she was home-schooled.  Fuller was awarded $2,000, and is pursuing a nursing degree because she has a passion for working with people.  Switzer, also awarded $2,000, has recently graduated from high school, and participated in the Post-Secondary Options Program during her senior year.

In the memory of David S. Fraedrich, the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation, in conjunction with the Hocking College School of Nursing, has established the David S. Fraedrich Memorial Scholarship to honor and pay tribute to Mr. Fraedrich's life. The creation of this permanent scholarship recognizes Mr. Fraedrich's spirit of community service through his involvement and dedication to the Foundation, the School of Nursing, Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville and other local organizations.

The scholarship is awarded to residents of Athens or Hocking Counties who are enrolled in the college's Nursing program, with special consideration to graduates of Nelsonville-York City Schools and persons employed at Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville.
