The Hocking College Hawks know that teamwork is important on and off the field. On September 12, Hawks players, coaches and staff came together to volunteer with the Southeastern Ohio Food Bank.

Each year, the Southeastern Ohio Food Bank distributes more than 4 million meals to people struggling with hunger in a 10-county service area. The Hawks volunteer team gave up their Saturday morning to pack senior food boxes, packing a semi-load of food boxes in less than three hours. The truck distributed the food to pantries in nine counties.

Through their volunteerism, the Hawks were participating in Hunger Action Month, a program of Feeding America and member food banks that asks everyone in America to take action to fight hunger. They also participated in Spoontember, a social media activation in which supporters can share a selfie of themselves balancing a spoon on their nose.

The team hopes their actions will bring more awareness to the hunger crisis here in Hocking County and in the United States, and they look forward to participating again next year.
